Senior Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a full-time Senior Payroll Specialist to support the Payroll team at our headquarters in greater Kansas City. In this role you will be responsible for calculating final pay for all termed associates as well as assisting with posting of manual paid time off records and maintain related spreadsheets. Other essential functions include:

•Administer and set up associate and schedule information and perform attendance edits in Kronos Timekeeping system

•Process and post reimbursement payments including distribution of reimbursement checks

•Respond to questions and possibly prepare reports per department/company/outside third party requests

•Record ESPP and stock option sales in ADP

•Provide leadership, training and guidance to less experienced team members

•Perform job functions independently with minimal direction from supervisor

•Process time information recorded in Kronos and import to ADP

•Submit payroll for processing in ADP Payforce


Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or another field relevant for successful performance of the essential functions of this job description OR in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, a minimum of 4 years’ experience processing a multi-state payroll for a large number of associates. Other requirements include:

•Excellent academic (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)

•Must possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience processing payroll using a payroll software system or another substantially similar payroll software

•Must possess intermediate proficient computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

•Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

•Strong verbal and written and communication and interpersonal skills

•Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment

•Excellent time management and follow-up skills

•Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality

•Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive information in a confidential manner

•Must possess a proven track record in performing roles which require being detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy

•Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor less experienced payroll team members

Previous experience working in Kronos Workforce Central Timekeeping module, previous experience using Oracle HR Management System and FPC or CPP certification is highly preferred!
