JOB TITLE: Social Media Analyst REQUISITION: MAR0005 DEPARTMENT: Corporate Communications and Public Affairs- Topeka General Office or Kansas City Headquarters LOCATION: Topeka, KS or Kansas City, MO PAY GRADE: $54,800- $68,400

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Requires on-call work hours on many evenings and weekends. Work hours may be flexible to meet changing business objectives.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Social Media Analyst creates compelling and engaging content for external audiences on KCP&L and Westar Energy’s social media accounts, and works with leadership and colleagues throughout the company to respond to inquiries via social media. This position serves as a community manager for KCP&L and Westar’s social media outreach and provides reports and metrics that help inform and shape the company’s social media strategy. • Drafting organic content and some advertising for social media channels – 35% • Monitoring social media channels, and answering questions and comments in a timely manner. Includes participating in the on-call rotation after typical work hours– 35% • Compiling metrics for regular and ad hoc social media reports using content management system (Sprinklr) – 15% • Staying up-to-date on social media trends and changes – 10% • Assisting with other Corporate Communications functions as necessary – 5%

Education, Experience and Abilities: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field. At least 3-5 years of experience in social media, public relations, communications, or marketing is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in the following: • Working in a customer facing role and communicating with customers • Experience in utility industry is preferred, but not mandatory • Experience in administering social content management system, (Sprinklr preferred but not mandatory) • Effective people skills and project management capabilities • Experience participating a rebrand or merger would be helpful

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required: • Strong storytelling ability – creates engaging content that focuses on people • Strong customer service skills – an ability to maintain a genuine, warm and helpful tone through written communication (via social), even when facing opposition from customers • Strong and efficient writing and editing abilities, specifically for social and digital channels • Knowledge of social media best practices and experience working with with social channels • Ability to translate technical information into content for external audiences • Demonstrated ability to manage several projects at once with attention to detail and follow-through • Understanding of corporate communications strategy and ability to recommend communications programs and tactical suggestions • Ability to work cross-functionally • Highly adaptable – can thrive in a dynamic environment • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with a variety of groups, including employees, clients and vendors • Ability to work outside of typical business hours and flex work schedule as needed • Enthusiasm for professional development • Creative eye with basic graphic design and video editing skills • Basic knowledge of Adobe products such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere • Knowledge of visual communications (photography and video)

Licenses, Certification, Bonding and/or Testing Required: Valid driver’s license required.

Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions. Must have satisfactory work record including good attendance.
