Vehicle Maintenance Worker/Tire Repair Technician

Job Description
The City of Olathe is seeking a seasonal Vehicle Maintenance Worker/Tire Repair Technician to performs tire repair, tire replacement, tire rotation, and tire evaluation on vehicles and equipment within the City’s Fleet. Aids in the preparation of new vehicles for service, the decommissioning of older vehicles in preparation of disposal or auction and other general shop tasks as required. All required services may be performed in the field as service calls or within the shop as repairs or maintenance

Key Responsibilities:
•Inspect, repair and maintain all tires and tubes on city units; perform road and field services as required.
•Aid in the requisition od necessary materials and equipment to perform tire maintenance, repair and replacement to include various tires and specialty equipment.
•Complete various reports including work orders to document repairs, costs, downtime and in-service usage.
•Control and maintain tire shop inventory.
•Aid in the inspection of new vehicles and equipment.
•Perform parts acquisition from various metro wide area vendors, as required.
•Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education:
Experience: Minimum of one-year experience in tire repair or related field, preferred. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude required.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Automotive technology coursework preferred.

License and Certificate: Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement within 6 months of employment.

Supplemental Information:
Hours: Monday – Friday between 7:30 am-4:30 pm
This is a seasonal non-benefited position, $15.00 per hour.

Must pass background investigation, pre-employment physical and drug screen.
