The Campus Facilities Management (CFM) team is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our team to supervise and maintain our electrical and plumbing systems, locks and Cbord access located on both the Volker and Hospital Hill campuses.

Job Description

As a UMKC employee within the Maintenance Supervisor position, you will belong to an engaged and diverse campus community and will interact and engage with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds each day. You will have an assorted amount of work across the Volker and Hospital Hill campuses and will have the opportunity to broaden your skillsets with the Campus Facilities Department as you will work side-by-side with other skilled trades such as carpentry, electrical, and plumbing when needed. This individual will report directly to the Director of Campus Facilities Management and will provide day-to-day operational oversight for 8-10 skilled team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates the work of electrical, plumbing, and locksmith technicians performing maintenance and repairs. Utilizes TMA work order system.
  • Oversees the operation all building electrical, plumbing, and lock systems. Coordinates all fire alarm and sprinkler testing for both the Volker and Health Sciences Campuses.
  • Manages vendors that support campus systems such as elevators, alarms, book retrieval system at the library, and alike.
  • Interacts with campus leaders and building clients to meet electrical, plumbing needs, and all other maintenance related needs.
  • Works with other campus facilities groups and construction leaders to support renovation and refresh projects as needed.
  • Input work orders in TMA when need skilled trade assistance is needed.
  • Order and maintain local inventory for the Maintenance shop.
  • Manage/Liaison projects with 3rd party contractors.
  • Review plans and projects and share input with the PD&C team.
  • Works with other campus facilities groups and construction leaders to support renovation and refresh projects as needed.
  • Responds to emergency situations during on and off hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
  • Visually assess maintenance, construction, and repair needs.
  • Work in areas where high levels of heat, moisture, dust, and noise are present.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment while accomplishing assigned tasks.
  • A valid Missouri driver’s license must be held and maintained by incumbents in this position.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$50,000 to $67,000 per year commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
